WHY DEMEN
We plan birthdays, graduations, vacations, and weddings. But the conversations that protect our voices and support our families are often the ones we postpone.
Demen gives you a clearer, kinder place to begin—before a crisis makes the decisions for you.
ONE PLACE. YOUR VOICE.
Demen turns an overwhelming process into clear, manageable steps you can revisit at your own pace.
Thoughtful prompts help you explore what matters, name your wishes, and prepare to talk with the people you trust.
Upload and organize the documents that matter, so you and your chosen people know where to find them.
Bring family, friends, or trusted supporters into the plan with secure invitations and clear roles.
Learn in plain language, find state-specific starting points, and understand what may require witnesses, signatures, or a notary.
Demen provides educational tools and document organization. It does not provide medical or legal advice.
HOW IT WORKS
Answer gentle questions about your values, care, and the life you want to protect.
Bring your wishes and existing documents together in one clear, private place.
Share the right information with the people who may one day need it.

MEET THE FOUNDER
MEET THE FOUNDER
Founder of Demen · Haitian American social worker
After years of helping individuals and families navigate care decisions—often during moments of uncertainty or crisis—I saw how difficult it can be to begin these conversations.
My work with older adults, families, and caregivers, together with my doctoral research, inspired me to create a calmer and more accessible way for people to understand their choices, organize what matters, and make sure their voices are heard.
“I created Demen to make planning feel clearer, more human, and possible before a crisis.”DR. SMANA SERADIEU · FOUNDER
WHY THE NAME DEMEN?
In Haitian Creole, demen means tomorrow. The choices we clarify today can bring dignity, direction, and peace of mind tomorrow.
GUIDANCE & SUPPORT
Demen guides you step by step while remaining clear about where its information comes from—and when another professional may be needed.
Educational resources are informed by official state and government materials, recognized advance care planning guidance, social-work practice, and ongoing research. State-specific resources will identify their source and review date.
Our public workshop schedule and booking calendar are coming soon. In the meantime, email us to schedule a one-to-one information session or a private family session.
Demen provides general education and planning tools. Information sessions are not medical, legal, or mental-health consultations and do not replace advice from a qualified professional.
